Overview

Crystal, generally called Crys within the party, is Dana's psychic familiar, a tiny hunk of translucent cerulean rock with some very unusual abilities. Crys can walk and climb walls using six wispy pale-blue appendages. She 'speaks' with people directly through their minds, transferring meanings instead of actual words -- her communication transcends specific languages to reach any sort of mind. She can see without eyes, in a very limited range but discounting even magical darkness. And like Ursula, Crystal has no metabolism to upkeep, and seems to need neither rest nor food.
Unlike Ursula, Crys has a mind of her own. Being somewhat an extension of Dana and somewhat an independent being, Crys's personality shares much with her master's, though she doesn't share some of Dana's adversarial quirks and consequently comes off as more genial or 'nice'. In any case, the spider-legged rock can travel about on her own, make decisions and judgements, even notice things Dana herself does not. Crys lacks any offensive capability at all, but sometimes runs a restorative spell from Dana to Ursula in the heat of battle, or crawls around on nearby foes to distract them from attacking her master.
When in public or otherwise inactive, Crys dissipates her vaporous legs and rests in a silver-green bracelet on Dana's arm.
