Dungeons & Dragons
From AJS.COM
Dungeons & Dragons is arguably the original role-playing game. It derived from the original Chainmail miniatures combat system.
The game is based on a high-fantasy setting similar to that of J.R.R. Tolkein's Lord of the Rings, involving elves, dwarves, magic and very strictly defined parameters for good and evil as well as law and chaos. The game focuses on the advancement of a player character through combats in which opponents are vanquished. The more powerful the opponents, the more rapid the advancement.
