Free City of Greyhawk

The Free City of Greyhawk is a city-state, and one of the largest cities of the Flanaess. At its center is the enigmatic Castle Greyhawk, in whose dungeons the fate of countless adventurers have been determined.

Greyhawk Wars

Before the so-called Greyhawk Wars, the Free City of Greyhawk was well enough known, but since they helped to broker the truced that ended the war (resulting in the name of the war itself), the reputation and power of this vast city have bloomed.

Circle of Eight

The city is home to the infamous tower of the Circle of Eight.

"The Free City"

In recent publications (namely, Dungeon Magazine's Age of Worms storyline), the Free City of Greyhawk's name is shortened to simply, "The Free City". This is done in an attempt to make storylines which otherwise depend only on core materials, portable to multiple settings.
