Gypsum was an evil necromancer who trained cultists of Malhugh. He was married to the mother of a friend of Than Mason named Molé Pembroke, and after her death (which followed his by a year), Than Investigations discovered that he had summoned a devil in the underground lair beneath his estate, which had remained there, trapped within a binding circle since Gypsum's death.
