The Hellfurnace Mountains (or simply Hellfurnaces) are an actively volcanic mountain range that extend from the Crystalmist Mountains to the north, to the Amedio Jungle to the south. This mountain range separates the great expanse of the Sea of Dust to the west from the lands of the Flanaess, and specifically, the Hold of the Sea Princes.
Inhabitants
The inhabitants of the Hellfurnaces include most of the fire-loving, monsterous races, and this makes them extremely dangerous to try to pass (ignoring the natural dangers of such a harsh landscape).
Below the range is said to be a network of passages that meet the Underdark.
