Locations in Cauldron
Bluecrater Academy
This is the institution of learning in Cauldron. Folks in the caravan don't speak well of it, but this seems to be more from a disdain for organized education (as opposed to the trade guilds) rather than anything specific about the Academy.
Cathedral of Wee Jas
There's no way to describe the temple other than to say that it is an edifice. The walls of the whole building give the appearance of being made from a single block of volcanic stone, and as you wound around the ascent of the volcano to the gate, the spire of this cathedral was within sight for almost all of the slow trek. The city seems to have mixed feelings about the cathedral dedicated to Wee Jas. They are apparently good members of the community, but also a bit aloof.
Church of Pelor
This small church dedicated to Pelor is regarded in hushed tones by members of the caravan. It seems that some tragedy has surrounded it of late, and the rumors are that Pelor's influence is waning in this part of the world.
Church of St. Cuthbert
This is the primary St. Cuthbert house of worship in Cauldron. A cleric named Jenya Urikas has recently been overseeing the church while its high priest has been away. She is well liked by most of the town.
Coy Nixie
The Coy Nixie is widely considered the finest place to buy a meal in town... at least the finest that visitors are allowed to partake of. The food is, however, as expensive as it is good.
Cusp of Sunrise
This is a private club that is frequented by the elite of Cauldron. It is nearly impossible to get invited, and the nobility of the town frequents its library and social halls.
Drunken Morkoth Inn
There are two important legends in Cauldron, a caravan member says on the way to the town: the "sea monster" that lurks in the lake at the center of the city and the inn that is named after these tall tales: The Drunken Morkoth. Many adventuring parties have first met at this popular inn.
George, the proprietor, is eager to hire bards who can attract a wealthier clientele than he currently has.
Garthûn Imports
Adrick Garthûn runs an exotic food and drink establishment that many say is worth checking out... if you have the money for expensive sweets or tobacco.
Gurnezarn's Smithy
There are many tales told of the quality of Phalian Gurnezarn's work both in Cauldron and elsewhere.
Maavu Imports
Maavu Arlintal runs an import business that is popular with the more intellectual sorts in Cauldron. He has a book selling business, but mostly he's involved with the acquisition of goods for other merchants. Or, at least that's the word on the street.
Minuta's Board
This is a simple rooming house in which most of the poorer visitors to Cauldron rent a room. The advice that you have heard is that your purse should be carefully hidden under your pillow while you sleep here... lightly. Still, it is cheap and it keeps the rains off of your head better than a tent outside the city walls.
Skie's Treasury
Like many retired adventurers, Skie Aldersun, a gnomish merchant and owner of Skie's Treasury, has moved from the front-lines of adventuring to the strictly retail end of the business. Many adventurers still regard her highly though, and you hear several comments that indicate that adventuring gear of the finest quality comes from her shop.
Slippery Eel Tavern
This is a working class tavern that anyone with significant gather information skill will be aware is a nexus for those who want to contact the black market in Cauldron, but it is not always easy to get someone to introduce you to the right people.
Sure Foot Livery
The only location in Cauldron to buy horses or other mounts and gear.
Temple of Lordly Might
This is the temple of Kord and is either the second or third most powerful religious institution in the city (depending on who you talk to). There's more than one person coming through the gate on the same day as you from far to the north, making a pigrimage to this temple.
Tipped Tankard Tavern
Advice that has come your way is that this is a tavern to stay away from. It's not that there's anything underhanded going on, it's just that... well the guard likes to hang out here, so not much of anything that's of use ever does go on there.
Tygot's Old Things
Tygot Mispas is a halfling who buys and sells antiques and art objects according to several local adventurers who claim to do business with him on a regular basis.
Weer's Elixirs
The stores of curatives were expended by the caravan on the way to Cauldron as a result of the beholder encounter, so the organizers mentioned how much they were looking forward to visting this particular shop. Vortimax Weer is the owner of the shop, and he is generally both well stocked and well liked.
Westkey's Map Emporium
The caravan had some wonderful maps, which they claimed were bought from Bolar Westkey at this very shop.
Zanathor's Provisions
A simple provisioning shop, and frequent stop for adventurers, you have hear rumors that the proprietor, Bjellkir Zanathor is fond of telling tall tales.
