Overall: An excellent widescreen monitor for gaming or general use: 9 out of 10
The Sceptre 22WG Widescreen LCD is a flat-panel LCD monitor that I've been using for some time now, and I'm very happy with it. I use it for gaming and all of my Web and software development work under Linux.

- A 22" TFT LCD
panel (473.76 mm x 296.1 mm)
- 1680 x 1050 resolution
- 5ms response time
- HDMI, DVI-D and VGA ports
- Comes with a stand, and is VESA 100mm mount compliant
- Built-in speakers
Connectors
I've used the DVI and VGA ports. They both function as expected. Others have reported port failures, but I never saw this. Cables are easily pulled out (since they go straight up, into the ports), so make sure you screw them in.
Brightness
The monitor is plenty bright for my uses. Even when there's indirect daylight in the room, I find the screen easy to see.
Response time
5ms isn't the best you can get, these days, but it's fairly good. I don't notice any lag when I'm watching movies or playing video games, though in part that might be due to game developers getting more savvy about displaying on LCDs. In general, I can perceive lag on the part of my video hardware, much easier than that of the monitor.
Resolution
The only downside to the resolution is that I end up wanting it at work too. The 1680 width is quite helpful in organizing my browsing, terminal windows and other activities. I still use the virtual desktop, but not as much.
Conclusion
There are plenty of monitors out there, but Sceptre has been carving out a definitive niche for itself as the king of the low-cost, high-performance panel. In the 22WG, they've certainly succeeded.
