Break
After returning home, the party officially breaks for a few weeks as their members accomplish their own tasks. A new member of Than Investigations is hired by Cynthia, Wilchop Darkflagon—a dwarf with significant skill with a greatsword.
A new job
After some time off for the group, Cynthia explains to the party that they have many offers of work, and since they are all partners now, she wants to offer them the opportunity to choose. The first is a job that the third ranking officer of the city guard had brought to Cynthia in secret. The second is a minor job for an important noble. The rest are what she refers to as "lost cat" jobs. They are all minor, but pay fairly well. One of them was a merchant whose supplies were stolen on the Velverdyva river between Dyvers and Verbobonc. The party chose to follow up on the first, and ended up getting information out of several dock workers near the river, all leading to a mysterious figure who many on the docks claim to know better than to cross.
Following up further, the party ends up in the East Quarter where they are attacked. After dispatching the attackers, the party gets enough information to point them to the Better Light brothel in the High Quarter.
Colis gets the girl
When Colis and Cheadle enter the brothel, they were immediately separated by "helpful" women who offer them anything that they want to relax while waiting for the boss to see them. Cheadle was brought up to a room where a Halfling girl attempted to backstab him, but failed and was knocked out.
Meanwhile, Colis was secreted down to the basement by the elf named Patinia who claimed to be a priestess of Sehanine Moonbow. Visions that Colis had been given by Pelor lead him to believe that she was telling the truth, so he went along. What followed was a blur to Colis after, but what he remembers is an angelic being appearing, named Nildrama, and then walking forward into Patinia.
Fight to the bottom
Cheadle was soon joined by Wilchop, Joshua and Grin on the first floor, who had been summoned by a sense of urgency about their friends. They all fought through several guards getting to the basement, where they discovered Nildrama and a glowing orb of crackling energy. Nidrama told them that there was nothing for them there, so they proceded to the sub-sub-basement where they discovered a glowing well and a large Dark Naga. Colis and Patinia then retured out of the glowing orb which descended into the room, and a fight ensued.
Death of the Naga and the Well
The Naga and her henchman, a blackscale lizardfolk, were dispatched with some difficulty, after which Patinia and Colis revealed that they had been part of a "rejoining" of the gods Pelor and Sehanine, who had apparently had some falling out millenia ago, and have now re-forged their friendship. The Well of Light in the center of the room is an artifact of their former involvement which possesses some of the essence of both gods, and which Patinia and Colis have been charged with caring for. The rest of the party has been offered possitions as guards of this place which is once again a temple of both Pelor and Sehanine.
Wrap up
To demonstrate the power of the Well, Sehanine uses it to retrieve Than from Mechanus. Than returns, confused but none the worse for his excursion.
While investigating the Better Light, it is discovered that the Naga's agents had ties to Lugai and Gypsum, implying a further tie to the Cult of Malhugh....
