Than Mason

Than Mason is the primary NPC in the Than Greyhawk campaign. He is the founder of Than Investigations and hires out to a number of groups of adventurers.

Business

As a private investigator (a rare profession at best, and one that usually garners some suspect double-takes) he handles everything from shadowing someone to determine their activities at night to "recovering" items which have been stolen (actually, this often involves nothing more than trading favors with the local thieves guild, but don't tell his customers that). He's not generally the murder-solving sort of investigator, but he's worked with the city guard a couple of times in the past, which has resulted in his ownership of an official license to carry the tools of his trade and enter guard buildings when escorted.

Of late, he had had quite of a lot of success, and took on his primary adventurers as partners in the business.

Mechanus

On a recent job, Than and his partners (along with some of the regular adventurers) found themselves dealing with a gate to the plane of Mechanus. While there, Than learned that the gate posed a significant threat to his world, and could only be closed from the other side.

Sacrificing his safety, and possibly his life, Than stayed behind and destroyed the gate. He has not been heard from since.

Background

Than and his sister, Cynthia Mason are both from Verbobonc, but Cynthia left to join the Gnarly Rangers, and has only recently returned to help out when Than collapsed from over-work.
