Tharizdun (The Dark God, He of Eternal Darkness, The Elder Elemental Eye, NE) is the intermediate (?) god of eternal darkness, decay, entropy, malign knowledge, and insanity in the Greyhawk cosmology.
It is an ancient and vastly powerful god of destruction, which was banished to a prison realm (presumably a demi-plane) long ago by most of the other powerful gods, lead by Pelor.
The dark god sleeps in his prison, but some of its thought escapes to the Prime Material Plane where it influences the thoughts and actions of mortals.
